A year or so ago, my friend Jason picked the Concrete mini-series Strange Armor for our show, Gutter Trash. I enjoyed it so much that I rushed out and bought the first volume of Concrete stories and have since never read it.
I’ll get around to it.
Anyway, Paul Chadwick’s Concrete. Read it, it’s great.

Concrete is one of those notable indie comics I probably should have read by now, but haven’t. I’m trying to remedy that, in fact I picked up the first volume of Usagi Yojimbo this week. Finally. Apparently I’m a clown, because its awesome.

I’ve never read Usagi Yojimbo, mostly due to the continuing confusion I have over there being a TMNT toy, and discovering that there was no connection between the two.
Actually, I’m pretty sure the TMNT and Usagi teamed up a time or two in their respective comics. I do know the TMNT appeared in a Usagi TP I thumbed through at the shop. Also Usagi Yojimbo was published through Mirage Punishing (former home of the TMNTs. fucking Viacom sale *shakes fist*) for a number of years before going to Dark Horse. So Stan Sakai, Eastman, and Laird were buddy buddy at one point.
Which explains the Toy.
PS: Check out Usagi Yojimbo when you get a chance, the first collection has floored me. Stan Sakai’s art style is inspirational. Make for a good Gutter Trash episode IMO.
