033 – Reverse Flash

I believe I’ve made my love of the blank variant covers publicly known. Seriously. I love them. The paper… oh lord, the paper. I’ve drawn two of these in as many weeks, and I think I’ve officially become addicted to drawing on them. Seriously. I’m jonesing for the next one. Unfortunately, I don’t have any access to one now. I need to build up a stash. Or, if you have one and want to pay me some money, I’d gladly draw on one.

My pal Joe donated this Flash #39 cover to me so I could add it to my other new addiction – trying to sell my art on eBay. I may not be the Flash fan Joe is (no one is), but I do enjoy drawin’ me some Flash characters.

Sidebar: The Flash TV show makes me incredibly happy. It is a joy to watch each and every time.

I decided to draw the old DCU Reverse Flash on this nu52 cover, ’cause, well, they old DCU costumes and characters are the best versions. Decided to try some coloring on this. Over the last couple years, I’ve been experimenting with gray Copics, and I find them a joy to work with. I need to work with them more. But also, I need to refill a few of them. I got the lady into working with Copics last summer, and she became temporarily obsessed with them, buying a ton of colors. I asked her to use them to color this cover, but she did not have a yellow, which is kind of an important color for this character. So I broke out my old Chartpaks from art school from 17 years ago. I was afraid the markers wouldn’t be as versatile as the Copics, but was pleasantly surprised. I’m relatively pleased with how this turned out.
