Satan is Coming

This is a follow-up to my last post, the second cover I did for the Dr. Creep/New Shock Theater DVD covers project. The movie is called “The Devil’s Wedding Night”. I wanted to go in a completely different direction and style with this cover, but I still had to stick with the parameters of putting Dr. Creep on it somehow. Not too happy with the placement of the text, it looks more like the movie is called “Satan is Coming”. Oh well, we’ll get ’em next time, Champ.

Eric, I’m not sure I understand why you’re not happy with this. It looks great to me. I will say, however, that if the “next time” you mention is your rendition of the Black Panther on the kirbymuseum.org site, then you really nailed ’em this time, Champ! Congratulations.

  1. I’m not satisfied with the “tribal tattoo” things I used to signify Creep’s hat brim or beard, I do not like the shape of the demon women, and as I mentioned, the tagline overpowers the actual title of the movie.
I appreciate your comments about Black Panther, however, that definitely isn’t “next time”. That drawing is a few years old, and is actually the very first post on this blog, held over from my old (and first) blog page.

I have to admit I’ve only been following your blog since this March and never clicked on the archived material. Gadzooks! I feel like somebody who’s been walking by a gold mine entrance without ever stepping in to grab some treasure. I only looked at a couple of months and it’s obvious there’s a lot of great and varied stuff here! Yours is not the type of work that one can just casually glance at, so it’s going to take me a long, long time to pore over everything. I’m looking forward to every second of it.

  2. I appreciate the compliments (really, I do), but, man, you are waaay overselling my abilities or my work!
