359 – Wundarr the Aquarian

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this year of daily sketches, it’s that just when you think you’ve found the most obscure character you could possibly draw, there’s another even more obscure character waiting around the corner. Today’s is the Aquarian, a sort-of request by Nick Marino, creator of multiple webcomics and 79 or so podcasts that can all be found at the link because he has far too many ventures for me to list. My first thought when seeing the Aquarian was “Disco Jesus”. Apparently this is a shared reaction among many on the internet.

Marvel’s version of Black Canary to their version of Green Arrow, aka Hawkeye.

354 – Jack of Hearts

I’d been sitting on this one for a while, as I wanted to color it up all fancy-like, but I could never get around to it, and I’ve grown to dislike the drawing immensely. I may give the character another go in the future. Anyhoo, he’s yet another awesomely weird/obscure Marvel character from the 70s/80s, and created by Keith Giffen to boot!

348 – Moon Knight

Kurt didn’t have to request Moon Knight. I was gonna draw him before the year was up at some point, this just finally gave me a good excuse to do it. I’m a big Moon Knight fan, though I haven’t really warmed to his current series. I really liked the previous volume that was seemingly cancelled for no reason after the Shadowland storyline in Daredevil. Oh well. This is last chapter of Kurt Dinse Week, Part 7: The Final. Thanks to Kurt for the requests, I had a blast.

346 – Raza

I know this character from The Starjammers, a group of Space Pirates who are supporting characters in the X-Men books, designed by the genius of Dave Cockrum, and as a whole vastly underrated and underused characters. That said, I don’t know a lot about this specific character, other than that he had a ponytail and metal arm long before it was cliche, so I guess that makes him one of the O.G. Badasses. Sweet. Kurt Five, Dinse Furious.
