034 – Daredevil vs. Daredevil

I have gone on at length about my love of Marvel Comics’ Daredevil before, so again, he’ll probably pop up once or twice throughout the next year. Decided to have a DD vs. DD faceoff with the Golden Age Daredevil (or Death Defying Devil, if you’re Alex Ross and Dynamite). I love the bizarreness in the looks of certain golden age characters.

Drew this one entire with a brush pen. I need to work with one more. I think part of my tax return will be going toward brush pens.

  1. You seen the thing with the Kabuki dude & the brush pen? He dips the pen in an inkwell to get a ton more ink when he needs it.

  2. Weird. He should just use a regular brush, then. Special tip for you, David Mack.

If you get around to trying Savage Dragon out again, the Golden Age Daredevil is actually a regular recurring character in the title these days (there was this whole thing where Dragon saved a bunch of 40s heroes who had been trapped in a bubble having their powers drained. They were all public domain characters, mostly characters Erik had been examining as part of his New Issue Project project. Daredevil ended up becoming a regular recurring character.)

  3. I think I was kind of aware of DD in Savage Dragon, but I’ve been picking the Next Issue project when they come out (2 so far?) I think I’m gonna get back into Dragon when I get some finances in order.
