There was an old Marvel Team-Up I read in which Spider-Man fought (and eventually teamed-up with) the original X-Men, who all wore their regular clothes. There was a blurb in the back of the issue that the writer and artist for that issue had pitched an original 5 X-Men graphic novel in which they would never put their costumes on. They got the go ahead, but then were told they couldn’t do it.
Also, one of my favorite parts of Batman: Arkham City is the very beginning of the game when you play (and kick ass) as Bruce Wayne. I wish there had been more of that.

I love it when Superheroes were ‘ordinary’ clothes to go action/adventuring in.

As a kid I always wondered what this dude was all about, and he wore that coat and glasses. I still don’t know but yes, it is awesome!
