After yesterday’s heady confessional, let’s go with something a little lighter. Fulfilling a request for Sarah Potter (daughter of my Ok, PANIC! cohort Jeff Potter), it’s Squirrel Girl!
The only things I know about Squirrel Girl are:
a) she was created by Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko
b) she was created in 1992. I honestly thought she was an older character than that
c) she’s a mutant with squirrel powers
d) she was a member of The Great Lakes Avengers for a short while
e) she’s currently the nanny for Luke Cage’s baby
f) she recently beat the crap out of Wolverine
g) she calls her utility belt her “nut sack”. Y’know, sacks of nuts for her squirrels.
That’s a lot more than I expected to know.

cool! i knew points “a”,”b”, and “c”, but not the rest.
Could you tell me what started the fight between her and Wolverine and if her squirrels chewed off his claws?
also i really like your drawing of Squirrel Girl!
Could you tell me if any of the comic books with her were really violent? If not, i may get an issue with her in it at Mavericks.
Squirrel Girl is probably my favorite Marvel super-heroine as of right now!
I also have her first appearance in one of my comic books from Wheeler.

I don’t know anything about the fight between Squirrel Girl and Wolverine other than it happened. I think it was in this month’s New Avengers comic, which is generally pretty violent.
I bought some of the Great Lakes Avengers books she was in, but I can’t remember them well. I think there was quite a bit of violence played for comedy, and one of her squirrels got killed.
Sorry I couldn’t help you out much.
Doesn’t everyone beat up Wolverine at least once? I remember when Marrow kicked his but. I got so angry…
I think one of the running gags of the first Dan Slot GLA series is Mr. Immortal dieing in rather violent ways. I know the comic opens with him blowing his brains out. But it is played for comedy.
What the heck was Ditko doing working for Marvel in the 1990s?
