219 – Shade The Changing Man

I’ve gushed about Shade the Changing Man before, so I’m not gonna repeat myself here. I wish this drawing had turned out better, and he certainly deserves better than being depicted as a hipster. I will say that I got turned onto Shade by my friend Bruce, and we loved the book so much we stole Shade’s technicolor changing coat for one of the characters in one of our comics.

I know nothing of Shade The Changing Man, but I like his scarf.

  1. I can’t recommend this series enough. Please read it.

  2. The series is incredible. Sometimes bleak & sometimes comedic & works as a unified 70 (or however many) issue piece. My favorite scene of the series might be when Shade loses control of his shaping ability & turns into a blanket that his girlfriend proceeds to have sex with someone else on. But basically, shade is Doctor Who without as much time travel.

Speaking of Doctor Who, Eric, have you ever drawn any of the Doctors?

  3. I have not, I am very unfamiliar with any of them.

Awesome… and for the record I’d say “hip” but not “hipster”.

Eric, do you plan on reading that new DC series with Shade in it?
Also i’d never even considered the connections between Shade & Doctor Who!!! Thinking about it now it seems obvious!

  4. I do plan on checking out at least the first couple issues of JL Dark
