This is a collaboration. My friend Jessie works at We Care Arts, and she hand paints custom ties as part of their collections of products they sell. Since I have decided to dress a little more “up” when I do comic shows & convnetions, Jessie suggested I get a custom tie to use. I came up with the illustration design, and she did the rest. It’s kind of fucking amazing.
I will be wearing this tomorrow (February 26th, 2017) at the Jim & Dan Comic & Toy Show, where I will be set up, selling prints and art, and showing off this awesome tie.

There’s seriously something about Fletcher Hanks’ characters that make me want to draw them a lot.

A while back, I came to the realization that when I was a teen/young adult, I desperately wanted to be a cartoonist in the vein of a Neal Adams or George Perez, with realism as my primary style. Now that I’m nearing 40, I desperately want to be like Jack Kirby. Bombastic, and trying new things, no matter how old I get. I’m not getting there, but I want to try. This was a poor attempt at trying.
