I drew Iceman 4 times. He is deceptively hard to draw. I also much prefer classic Iceman over crazy craggy jagged Iceman or Iceman wearing clothes over his ice form.

As much as I grew up an X-Men fanatic, there’s always been a weird disconnect between my brain and associating the X-Men with Kirby. Of all his concepts and ideas, for some reason to me, the X-Men just seem… un-Kirby-like. The costumes, the powers, the basic concept… I dunno. Anyhoozle, drawing Cyclops here is what made me break from drawing traditional Kirby costumes for some of the characters.

I can’t explain why, especially now, but I felt weird about drawing Red Skull in full Nazi regalia, so I left out his swastika patches. I’m guessing maybe it’s because we live in a shitshow of world where Nazis are making an unfortunate comeback. I should have taken a lesson from Jack and just not given a shit, because fuck Nazis. See a Nazi, punch a Nazi. Jack, Nick & Cap all lived by that motto at the very least.

I’mma talk about this later with another character, but I felt weird about including Groot. But, I decided to draw him as Kirby originally drew him in his one pre-Marvel Universe appearance.
As I made my list, I think I was most excited to draw The Super-Adaptoid. I love combo characters. Someday, I’m gonna draw Combo Man. Just you wait.
