Ok, PANIC! 2021

Back in early 2010, I took part in a bi-weekly curated art group called Ok, PANIC! I stuck with it through about mid-2013. It closed up shop in mid-2015. It has been unavailable on the internet for quite a while, but you can take a look at chunks of it via Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

When this website was hacked about a month ago, losing about 6 months worth of posts and back-end work I had done, I decided I wanted to have ALL my art from around the various corners of the internet hosted on here (with the exception of some Patreon exclusive stuff). So I grabbed all my Ok, PANIC! pieces (thanks, Wayback Machine!) and have spent the last week posting them where they would have fallen chronologically on the blog, as well as adding commentary for some of them. You can easily find them by clicking either of the links below! Enjoy!

Finite #4

I recently drew the back cover for Finite #4, the newest issue of the sci-fi comic by my friend Bruce O. Hughes. The issue will debut this upcoming weekend at the first Mid-Pandemic Gem City Comic Con. I might be there Sunday. Come infect us!

Besides the back cover, I also edited and re-lettered some of the book. I can personally guarantee 97.8% less spelling errors!

Vampire Superman

I’ve been watching Super Friends lately. Usually while doing other things. Episode I saw the other night had the Friends fighting Dracula, who turned people – and eventually Superman – into vampires with his eye lasers. And then Superman created an army of vampires with his eye lasers. And then Batman & Robin cured everyone with cave gas.

So I drew Dracula Superman. There was no blood in the cartoon. That’s artistic license.

Rainbow Batman

Happy Pride! I realize that me saying this is not as good as someone whose life is directly affected by the LGBTQ experience. I am a cishet dude (well, like 85% het) who literally only knows 2 lesbians and to call them friends is to stretch the definition of “friend” beyond snapping. To be fair, I am an incredibly introverted, insular person. I only have like 4 friends, and I’ve known them all for a very long time and quite frankly, I’m not in the market to know any more people than I already do. All people are a fucking chore. That said, better me wishing everyone in the LGBTQ community a good Pride month over, say, fucking Burger King or Walmart, right?

Anyhoozlebee, one of my four friends posted this tweet, which inspired me to draw Rainbow Batman. It’s a fun costume that I really wanted to draw, and yes, I totally stole the legendary Frank Miller splash page from Dark Knight Returns.

I am not sorry.

I am sorry about everything else about this post.

Dracula Week Day 7: Dell Comics

The superhero scientist descendant of Dracula (Aloysius Ulysses Card), determined to rehabilitate his family’s name, along with his lovely sidekick B.B. Beebe – also known as Fleeta.

I love comics.
