I shoulda scheduled Green Arrow for today. I’m an idiot.
410. Green Arrow

It’s weird. You’d think that since I prefer a Kyle Rayner and a Wally West over Hal & Barry (#NeverHal #AlwaysWally), that I’d have similar opinions on a Connor Hawke vs. Oliver Queen. But nope. Kinda love ’em both equally. Maybe it’s the archery thing. I dunno. But classic (keep that in mind, newfangled Oliver Queen can go screw) Ollie delights me as much as Connor does.
406. Captain Marvel

Listen, I like Carol Danvers. I like that she has taken the name of Captain Marvel. But the DC Captain Marvel will never be anything but Captain Marvel to me. They can share. Because, otherwise, won’t someone think of the kids? By kids, I mean Freddie Freeman and Mary Batson. What are they now, Shazam Jr. and Mary Shazam? Fuck that, that’s stupid.

Saw 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. It was okay. Not bad, not great. Tense at times, John Goodman is pretty fantastic. Otherwise, wait for it on Netflix or a cheap rental.
405. D-Man

The bastard offspring of Wolverine & Daredevil. Just because I was talking about this dude with a friend last night. I can’t wait for his Marvel Cinematic debut in Avengers 6: The Barrel Scrape Saga.
404. Green Hornet

Last night my pal Joe & I watched the Batman ’66 tv crossover with The Green Hornet. I’d never actually seen it before. It was a delight. It made me a) want to draw Green Hornet (and Kato, but I couldn’t get the hat right) b) want to re-watch the movie (which I also found delightful, and I don’t care who knows it) and c) want to see Seth Rogen & Ben Affleck team-up in a movie.

So, the other day, comic writer Kurt Busiek wrote some tweets about Dr. Strange. His theory (and a compelling one), is that when Ditko created the character, Strange was originally supposed to be of Asian descent. He was originally drawn with the slanted, thin eyes, and same skin coloring as The Ancient One in the earliest stories, but then issues later, when his origin is told, he is suddenly drawn as a caucasian. Busiek believes this was a change mandated by Stan Lee or Martin Goodman.
Ditko apparently still drew the Asian Dr. Strange on a rare occasion, and some other artists (Erik Larsen springs to mind) drew him the original Ditko way as well. It’s an interesting twist to the character, and if true, is kind of shitty to whitewash him. Anyway, figured I’d take a stab at a (very cartoony, exaggerated, and possibly racist stereotype) Asian Dr. Strange.
