662. Shade

A very disappointing, crap version of this character appeared on The Flash last week. Sigh.

661. Starman

660. Don’t Let the Fuckers Get You Down

Good advice I cannot follow.

This will be available as a print sometime in the near future.

There’s a little dog-shaped pin-cushion at my class on Tuesday nights. It is, at its core, horrifying. So, I brought the horror to the surface.

657. Jonah Hex

Jonah was on LEGENDS OF TOMORROW last night. I couldn’t resist drawing him, you know how I love characters with split faces.

We did metal embossing in class the other day.

654. Vigilante

I was 5 years old, around Christmastime. My brother Kent took me to a local bookstore off the corner of Dayton-Xenia Rd. and Fairfield Rd. It hasn’t been there for ages, decades. I don’t know why we there, but I was looking at comics. I think he bought me a Star Wars comic. But while looking, I saw a comic with a goggled man clad in black pointing a gun directly at the reader. Behind him was a collage of newsprint. It was striking. It has remained burned in my brain for 33 years.

I’ve been trying to draw more original illustration-y stuff, works I can turn into prints and not have to rely on licensed characters or fan-art. Also, to work on my own personal artistic growth and purpose. Up til now, my post-it doodles (and digital sketches) have been as close to whatever “art” is inside me as I can get. This is me trying to take the mentality of the post-its to a more completed illustrative place.
