Another character I’d never heard of from a game I’ve never heard of. But he’s kinda cool looking. I got as close to it as I could get. After this I drew Sephiroth for the same girl (her absent friend, actually… I trust her). That’s a character I had heard of from a game I wasted my early 20s playing. But no pic. FCBD sketches are wrapping up.
472. Corvo Attano
471. Terminator

I think this was my best of FCBD. A little more time consuming and complicated, but I think it turned out nice. The guy I drew this for said he was going to get it autographed by Arnold Schwarzenegger at a show sometime soon. I told him I didn’t need that extra pressure.
Prior to this, I drew a Dr. Strange and a Wolverine.
470. Donatello

So, before anyone complains, I didn’t have a purple marker. I had blue and red, and yes, both of those make purple. However, I don’t know if I mentioned that I drew 30 sketches in 4 hours? I was crankin’ these things out. And since I only know Raphael & Michaelangelo by memory, I had to look up Donnie here, and the first reference picture I found truly looked like he wore blue. Sorry. A few sketches later when a ksid asked for Leonardo, I realized my mistake.
I’m available for commissions, so I can afford more color markers.
469. Quicksilver

I feel like the kid that waited for this one waited a hell of a long time. He asked for this to be drawn “chibi” style. I didn’t know what that meant, but I have drawn in this style before. I also think most people were not thrilled that I was drawing the traditional comic versions of these characters.
Anyhoo, before Quicksilver, I had drawn Spartan Locke from Halo, Deadpool, Pikachu, Hinata from Haikyuu (it was the only repeat character I got asked to draw), and Captain America.
468. Ray Stanz

Free Comic Book Day sketch. Aykroyded. Before this I had drawn a Batman and Wonder Woman for two adorable small children.
467. Kitty Pryde

This was for a girl who patiently waited and watched me draw a ton of sketches before this. And it’s the one sketch of which I’d like a do-over. I seriously feel bad about this one. It’s definitely the worst sketch I did during FCBD, and that’s including the two Halo characters. But at least, y’know, I actually LIKE Kitty Pryde. But then again, I’m old, and my default Kitty Pryde is either perky teen Original X-Men costume version, or her blue puffy sleeved Shadowcat costume. I should have drawn that one. So, to the girl who asked for this, if you’re reading, I am gonna draw Kitty as Shadowcat soon. Get in contact with me and I will give you that one. ‘Cause seriously, I feel bad. This drawing is terrible.
466. Death the Kid

I have no idea who this is or what this is, but I drew it anyway. It’s from an anime whose name I’ve totally forgotten. From Free Comic Book Day. After this, I drew another anime character named Hinata from a show called Haikyuu. No pic.
465. Master Chief

This was the 1st of two Halo-related sketches I did for FCBD (the only one of which I grabbed a photo). These were definitely my least favorite things to draw (and least-well drawn). Just robot dudes with helmets and armor.
464. Darth Vader

Another FCBD sketch. I have never drawn Darth Vader before. This was intimidating until I realized I could just slap down a ton of sloppy ink. Then, it was fun.
Between Naruto & Vader, I had drawn Link (from the Zelda games) for someone.
463. Naruto

The next week and a half of posts will be the handful of sketches I remembered to get photos of during my Free Comic Book Day outing. Prior to Naruto, I had drawn a Loki, a Harley Quinn and a Mister Miracle. It was after Mr. Miracle that I realized I should have been taking pictures. I still forgot throughout the day.
From my Facebook post last night:
Today would qualify as a success, I think. I drew 29 sketches over the last two weeks to bring to Free Comic Book Day. I expected to come home with maybe 5-10 left. I expected to draw a couple of requests at the store.
All 29 pre-made sketches were gone in the first hour. From 9:45am to 2:00pm, I was drawing special requests. In 4 hours time, I drew 29 new sketches. I’m tired, I made and accepted no money, nor did I want to. If you’re gonna spend money at Free Comic Book Day at a comic shop, you should be spending that money at that shop. The comics are free to the customer, but not for the store.
Despite the hussle and the pressure of giving people the best drawings I could give them, not to mention so many in so little time, I had a fantastic day. Many thanks to Maverick’s Cards and Comics & staff for being gracious hosts and running a great event. And special thanks to all the customers and comic fans that came out and made the day even better. But I cannot give thanks enough to all the folks who grabbed one of the pre-made sketches, and the ones who patiently waited for me to draw their requests as I quietly held my panic and anxiety in check.
