Decided to do a redesign of the classic forgotten/cult character The Heckler. One of Keith Giffen’s finest and more obscure creations (Vext is probably the most). Giffen passed away a few months ago, and jeez, it hit me really hard. His run on Justice League is probably the biggest influence on me as a “storyteller” (as much as I am or can be). I was able to meet his partners JM DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire and let them know how much that book meant to me, but I never got a chance to meet Giffen. Being famously curmudgeonly, he probably would not have given the slightest fuck. But his work – not just JLI – meant the world to me and I am infinitely sad that he’s gone. He was a gift to the comics world, and would have hated every single tribute he received and deserved.
For sale! One (1) Blank Sketch cover for Batman #428 Facsimile – the Alternate “Robin Lives” Edition. The front cover is a gory homage to Mike Mignola’s classic original cover, featuring Jason Todd in his best form. The back cover is an homage to cartoonist and hetero life-partner Jason Young. Jason sketched the “I’m no dead!” original on a mylar comic bag, which will be included with the purchase of this cover!
