297 – 11/24/2011

296 – The Blob

295 – Baron Blood

Captain America/Invaders villain/goofy-looking vampire.

294 – Nightcrawler

Bonus micro-hero:

293 – Absorbing Man

Crusher Creel, aka The Absorbing Man, aka not Nick Nolte. Back in Junior High I was buying Marvel Universe trading cards, and I remember my friends and I seeing the Absorbing Man card (If I remember correctly, done by Art Adams). They had power stats and things on the back of the cards, including one for mental abilities. His was “mentally deficient”, a phrase that burrowed itself into my brain, where it still resides to this day.

Ok, PANIC!: Masters of the Universe

FISTO

292 – Fisto

Over at Ok, PANIC!, our topic this week was Masters of the Universe. I had an incredibly tough time coming up with something to draw, because I wanted to draw ALL of it. I still do.

The Fisto drawing that is up at PANIC! is like my 5th attempt at drawing something for the topic. The drawing above here is my 1st.

MOTU is probably the #1 toy/cartoon line for me from my childhood. I was obsessed with them and will always have a special nostalgia place in my heart for it. A couple years back, my ex and I watched some of the original cartoons, and I truly wish I hadn’t.

I thought the 2002 reboot cartoon was pretty great, though. Shame it got cancelled.

I had some old MOTU sketches lying around that I never posted here, so here’s some BONUS sketches:

291 – Wonder Man

My final Wonder Man, the ionic, living Kirby Krackle version.

290 – Wonder Man

This is the (mostly) the costume Wonder Man wore when I first was introduced to the character in John Byrne’s West Coast Avengers. Sans mullet, though. Because, y’know. Mullet.

289 – Wonder Man

Hollywood/Safari outfit, which I think is awesome.
