480. Beetle (Blue)

So DC brought back Ted Kord. Yep.

479. Daredevil

I’ve been suffering from a real pang of nostalgia for 90s comics lately. I don’t know why, as it was generally the worst. But also kinda the best, in the worst way possible.

478. Mystique

477. Venom

Appleseed Comic Con sketch commission.

A couple nights ago, I watched Rosemary’s Baby for the first time ever (the original, not whatever in the sweet loving fuck that remake thing was). It’s definitely the very definition of a late 60s, early 70s horror film. More drama than anything else, slowly and deliberately paced, focusing more on tension and atmosphere than actual scares. I dug it, for the most part. Plus, I always appreciate Charles Grodin in even the smallest of roles. I did think the ending was incredibly funny, I’m not sure if it was supposed to be. But then again, a Satanic cult of elderly New Yorkers can’t possibly be taken seriously, right?

476. Mumm-Ra

475. Warchild

At Appleseed Comic Con, I asked my friend Jason to name the most Liefeldy-Liefeld character that wasn’t Cable. Warchild was his answer. I’m pretty sure no one has ever been more dead-on about anything ever.

474. Nightcrawler

This BAMF bamfs. Sketch from Appleseed Comic Con.

473. Power Girl

Drew this at Appleseed Comic Con in Fort Wayne, Indiana over the weekend. It probably had nothing to do with the photo below.

471. Gambit

If everything went to plan, I am currently in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the Appleseed Comic Con. I should be hanging out with my pals Jason Young, Brian John Mitchell and Kurt Dinse.

About a month ago, Kurt sent me a package with two sketch variant covers. It was an unexpected surprise.

They’re pretty awesome, especially the Doop one, which is fantastic, because I love Doop.

But, Kurt thought that I hated Doop. I vaguely remember a conversation where he told me he would draw my least favorite X-Men character. Somehow, he was under the impression that Doop was it. Kurt was wrong, though.

It’s Gambit. It’s always Gambit. Gambit is awful.

So, I decided to draw Gambit for Kurt on a sketch cover. By this time, Kurt should already in posession of this cover. It was a blast (pun?!) to draw, and I even broke out my old college marker set (which don’t even really belong to me anymore. Shhh).

This is a proud moment for me.
