353 – The Eric Shonborn Year End of the Year Award for 2011

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

So in 2011, I began – unbeknownst to anyone, including me – to consider nominations for the 1st ever Eric Shonborn Year End of the Year Award. A lot of people were considered, but there could only be one winner:

JB Sapienza!

JB is a renaissance man with many talents and ventures, including co-running the website Rejected by Covered, being a cartoonist, making videos, and, as far as I’m concerned, being the guy in charge of the documentary MY NAME IS JONAH, which I look forward to seeing eventually. (JB also put together the MY NAME IS JONAH Free Comic Book Day digital comic, which I contributed to).

JB wins the award due to excelling.

The rest of you need to step up your game in 2012.

044 – Self Portrait

From me in the future. On a post-it note with a ball-point pen.

Ok, PANIC!

Eric

I draw myself a lot for someone who generally dislikes autobiographical comics and cartoons. But there is a purpose for this version of my self-portrait.

A friend of mine – Wheeler Hall – decided to form a conglomerate of his favorite local artists, give us a theme and let us run with it, and present a gallery of our work. This self portrait is for my bio page on the brand-spankin’ new website Ok, PANIC!

Ok, PANIC! is myself, my podcast co-host and fellow artist, Jason Young, our pal Pat Kain, and a guy I don’t know – Jeff Potter – who is insanely talented.

Every two weeks, the four of us will be tackling a theme in our own unique styles. For the launch, our topic is Richie Rich. Head on over to Ok, PANIC! to see my own disturbing take on the character, as well as Pat’s, Jason’s and Jeff’s.

I’m going to try my hardest to not repost art from Ok, PANIC! on this blog, or vice versa. So check it out to see brand new art from me and my friends on a bi-weekly basis, in addition to my mostly weekly updates here.

Ok, PANIC!.
