091 – Hobo with a Shotgun

091 – Hobo with a Shotgun
I’m not good a likenesses, so this is no Rutger Hauer, but rather a Hobo with a Shotgun.

I downloaded the movie pre-theatrical On Demand, and holy balls, it’s ridiculous and insane. If anyone sees that movie and hates it, then clearly they couldn’t read the title of the movie. It pretty much tells you all you need. Also, Hobo with a Shotgun weirdly reminded me of the Warren Beaty Dick Tracy movie with it’s use of bright, primary colors. I loved it.

090 – The Corpse Bride

090 – The Corpse Bride
Another request by a friend, for another character I know nothing about, as I’ve never seen the movie The Corpse Bride. I’m not sure why. I’m pretty sure I didn’t dislike Tim Burton back when it came out. I still don’t dislike him, but I’m on to his schtick and am mostly just bored and disappointed, particularly as he continues to just do remakes and adaptations starring Johnny Depp. Step it up, Burton!

089 – Mercy Sparx

089 – Mercy Sparx
I don’t know anything about this character, but it was a request from a former friend, so I was more than happy to oblige. Once again, I am faced with my limitations on drawing female characters, and this is something I need to work on, particularly to try not to make them all super-busty vixens. Luckily Mercy Sparx is a super-busty vixen, so yay me.

In my reference search for this drawing, I wound up downloading the free sampler issue of Mercy Sparx on Comixology for my phone. I gotta say that I do not enjoy reading comics on my phone, but I can see the general appeal for digital comics.

Free Comic Book Day – My Name is Jonah

Free Comic Book Day – My Name is Jonah
Next Saturday, May 7th, is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, which if you’re reading this blog, you know the deal. You can go to any local comic book store and get a selection of comics for absolutely no money down. Usually these are one-shots or samplers for an ongoing series or mini-series.

But once you’re done at the shops, you can go online and download the official MY NAME IS JONAH comic book, which features a three page story written and drawn by yours truly, in addition to 27 other pages of original story and art by other fine and talented folks. The cover here is drawn by Daniel Th1rt3en, colored by Jake Bills, with the layout by JB Sapienza.

MY NAME IS JONAH is the forthcoming documentary about the real life Warrior, Jonah Washnis. You can download the comic at the MY NAME IS JONAH Official Movie Site on Saturday May 7th, 2011. Until then, you can look through all the great fan art and watch the trailer for the film.

088 – The Flash

088 – The Flash
Since DC apparently refuses to use Wally West for anything worthwhile, I figured I’d draw him here, also so my friend Joe can get mad.
But hey, at least all the Flashes are still ‘merican citizens, dagnabbit. Not like that filthy commie Superman.

087 – I dunno

087 – I dunno
Some sort of subconcious Star Wars thing? I honestly have no idea.

086 – Lobo

086 – Lobo
Lobo, the Lemmy of the DC Universe.

085 – Hulk

085 – Hulk
Every single instinct and brain cell and nerve is telling me to give the fuck up.

084 – Devilwing

084 – Devilwing
An amalgam of my favorite Marvel character and one of my top 5 favorite DC characters (Daredevil & Nightwing, in case you needed help).

Everyone is always clamoring for a Daredevil/Batman crossover (there already was one, it sucked), and claims that Daredevil is the Marvel Universe’s Batman, but I’ve always thought that he had more in common with Nightwing (or Dick Grayson, if you wanna get specific, who is I guess now offically Batman anyway. So I guess nevermind. Talked myself out of this hole).

Let’s get blasphemous.
